The football team won its home opener at Trinity Stadium on Friday night, taking down Westford 28-21. The Hillies took a 28-7 lead into the fourth quarter and held on for their second straight win. They travel to Methuen on Friday night to take on the rival Rangers.
The golf team cruised to a 14-6 win over Lowell then played to a 10-10 tie with previously unbeaten North Andover. The Hillies host Methuen at Bradford Country Club on Thursday afternoon.
The girls’ volleyball team dropped its first match of the season on Friday night. After starting the season 5-0, the Hillies fell to first-place Lawrence. They be home on Monday night to face Tewksbury.
The Hillie crew teams opened up the year with an exhibition race at the River Ruckus on Saturday afternoon. The first official regatta will be held in Lowell this Sunday.
The girls’ swim and dive team also suffered its first loss of the year, losing to perennial state power Andover on Friday. The Hillies are now 3-1 and will face North Andover on Friday.
The field hockey team came close to earning its first win of the year but was edged 2-1 by Lawrence last week. The squad will look to get in the win column when it hosts Tewksbury on Monday night.
The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will travel to Wrentham this weekend for the prestigious MSTCA Frank Kelly Invitational.
The girls’ soccer team lost a hard-fought 3-2 game to Andover last week then bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Marblehead. The boys’ soccer team came out on the losing end of a pair of 1-0 games against Dracut and Tewksbury. The girls’ team will be on the road against Tewksbury on Tuesday while the boys’ team will be home against Methuen.
