The soccer teams were the first to kick off action for the Hillie sports teams this fall.
The boys’ soccer team fought to a 2-2 tie with Chelmsford at home last Tuesday. It followed that with a narrow 2-1 loss to Central Catholic. The Hillies return to action at home on Thursday when they host Tewksbury.
The girls’ soccer team is also off to a 1-1 start. The team fell to Chelmsford 3-1 in the opener then followed up with a 5-0 win over Lawrence. The Hillies take on both Andover and North Andover next week.
The girls’ volleyball team started off with a 3-0 win over Everett. The squad will travel to Chelmsford on Friday and return home to face Central Catholic on Monday.
The golf team also had a successful start, defeating Tewksbury 15-5. Jackson DiFloures shot a one-under par 34 to lead the way. The team hosts Lowell on Thursday at Bradford Country Club.
The cross country teams competed in the Clipper Relays over the weekend at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. The girls placed two relay teams in the top 30 out of 164 schools competing. The top boys’ team was 39th in a field of 227 teams. Both teams will participate in an invitational meet at Tewksbury this Saturday.
After starting with a pair of losses, the field hockey team will host Central Catholic this Thursday.
Under the direction of new head coach Meghan Feran, the girls’ swim team will travel to the Greater Lawrence Tech pool to take on Dracut this Friday.
The football season opener will be held this Saturday afternoon at Trinity Stadium. The Hillies will host the defending Division 1 Super Bowl champion St. John’s Prep. Kick-off is slated for 3:00 PM. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
